» FROM THE DESK OF OUR CHIEF EXECUTIVE AND PRESIDENT
Every New Year is normally shrouded by an aura of mystery! What will this New Year have in store for us? This is possibly one of the first questions that arose in our minds as we woke up on its first day. Very often, we humans have a tendency to welcome the New Year with a lot of good resolutions, most of which do not last for more than a week! Or we may have set up some personal goals for ourselves! or we could catch ourselves attempting a lot of other options! The fact remains, that every New Year reminds us that time is fleeting by and the 'now' or rather the 'present' is all we have in hand. With 2010, the second decade of the Millennium is already upon us.
Mr. R.K. Malhotra
Chief Executive & President
Just two weeks of the New Year, and Nature hit out, when a deadly earth quake devastated the poverty stricken Caribbean island nation of Haiti causing havoc, claiming thousands of victims and leaving many more homeless and destitute. We are probably aware, that 2009 was officially declared by IMD as the hottest year recorded in India. Even the past decade was the warmest on record! Besides threats to peace by wars, terrorism and violation of human rights, we also have threats arising out of neglect, if not downright misuse of the earth and its natural resources. The environment as we know, is everyone's responsibility and one that knows no boundaries. Talking about responsibility, it is a good time to consider nurturing one good eco-friendly habit for 2010 and making it a life-long one.
The end of February, 2010, brought forth the new Union Budget for 2010-11. Media generally termed it, as an economy friendly budget, enabling growth even though it is likely to be mildly inflationary. It gave much relief to 60% of the tax payers by the cut in income tax. According to some experts, the GDP is expected to grow by 9% this year.
On a note of optimism, there is news to say that the organized sector in India will create a million new jobs in 2010-11! On Woman's Day, 8th March, the country took a big historic stride by passing a Bill in the Rajya Sabha providing for 33% reservation for women in Parliament & State Assemblies, making way for a change in the political landscape of the country, by helping women reach the upper echelons of power.
The DLF IPL Season 3 has returned to India and began on 12

For us Indofilians, 2010 is a year that will hold out our promises made earlier. We are already witnessing our Agro and SPCD teams garnering the on-going rapid growth benefits of Project Lakshya and Project Udaan. A lot of sweat and toil had gone into the launching of these projects, but on looking back we find that the efforts were not in vain. For Indofilians, all this phenomenal growth and milestone successes achieved so far, have added to our confidence and geared us up to face the challenges of 2010.
As you are aware, the capacity enhancement, World class EHS and World Class quality Standard projects at our plants at Dahej, Thane and Pune are also simultaneously underway to achieve the growth targets for 2010 and beyond. R & D, Finance and People Strategy Teams have also been part of the growth story with their valuable contributions.
Meanwhile, Project Dhruv has ignited the leader in Indofilians, making each one of us realize that Power rests within each one of us. A Power that is making a difference at our work place! This issue carries an article that gives in detail the evolution of a new Indofil leader.
All the teams are poised for action, with their clearly defined priorities in the right direction. As Knowledge is one of our important values, we shall consistently strive to be a “learning organization”. Environment, Health and Safety will continue to merit our prime focus at all our Plant sites and offices around the country. Project Dhristi, the new born, will enable us to implement an integral system of Enterprise Resource Planning, using the world class ERP package of SAP.
CHEERS to 2010! For providing yet another new chance to dream big, find new ways of doing things, take risks with determination, be dedicated to jump over hurdles and have a passion to break through barriers and catapult to even greater heights of success!
All the Best to you and your family.
